الْإِبْرَاهِيمِيَّةِ

of Abraham

هِيَ:

are:

And indeed the rites of the religion of Abraham are:

  • حَجُّ
  • pilgrimage
  • بَيْتِ
  • to the House
  • اللَّهِ
  • of Allah
  • الْحَرَامِ،
  • the Sacred,

    pilgrimage to the Sacred House of Allah,

  • وَاسْتِقْبَالُهُ
  • and facing it
  • فِي
  • in
  • الصَّلَوَاتِ،
  • the prayers,

    and facing it in the prayers,

  • وَالْغُسْلُ
  • and ritual washing
  • مِنَ
  • from
  • الْجَنَابَةِ
  • major ritual impurity

    and ritual washing from major ritual impurity

  • وَالِاخْتِتَانُ،
  • and circumcision,

    and circumcision,

  • وَسَائِرُ
  • and the rest
  • خِصَالِ
  • of the characteristics
  • الْفِطْرَةِ،
  • of innate nature,

  • وَتَحْرِيمُ

    and the veneration of the Sacred Mosque,

  • وَتَحْرِيمُ
  • and the prohibition
  • الْمُحَرَّمَاتِ
  • of the forbidden relations
  • النَّسَبِيَّةِ
  • by lineage
  • وَالرَّضَاعِيَّةِ،
  • and by breastfeeding,

    and the prohibition of forbidden relations by lineage and breastfeeding,

  • وَالذَّبْحُ
  • and slaughtering
  • فِي
  • at
  • الْحَلْقِ،
  • the throat,

    and slaughtering at the throat,

  • وَالنَّحْرُ
  • and camel slaughtering
  • فِي
  • at
  • اللَّبَّةِ،
  • the lower neck,

    and camel slaughtering at the lower neck,

  • وَالتَّقَرُّبُ
  • and seeking closeness
  • بِالذَّبْحِ
  • through slaughtering
  • وَالنَّحْرِ
  • and camel slaughtering
  • إِلَى
  • to
  • اللَّهِ
  • Allah
  • - تَعَالَى -
  • - the Most High -
  • لَاسِيَّمَا
  • especially
  • فِي
  • in
  • أَيَّامِ
  • the days
  • الْحَجِّ.
  • of pilgrimage.

    and seeking closeness through slaughtering to Allah - the Most High - especially in the days of pilgrimage.

    وَقَدْ

    And indeed

    كَانَ

    were

    الْوُضُوءُ،

    ablution,

    And indeed ablution,

    وَالصَّلَاةُ،

    and prayer,

    and prayer,

    وَالصَّوْمُ

    and fasting

    مِنْ

    from

    طُلُوعِ

    the appearance

    الْفَجْرِ

    of dawn

    إِلَى

    until

    غُرُوبِ

    setting

    الشَّمْسِ،

    of the sun,

    and fasting from the appearance of dawn until the setting of the sun,

    وَالصَّدَقَةُ

    and charity

    عَلَى

    to

    الْيَتَامَى

    the orphans

    وَالْمَسَاكِينِ،

    and the needy,

    and charity to the orphans and the needy,

    وَالْإِعَانَةُ

    and assisting

    عَلَى

    in

    نَوَائِبِ

    calamities

    الْحَقِّ،

    of truth,

    and assisting in the calamities of truth,

    وَصِلَةُ

    and maintaining ties

    الْأَرْحَامِ،

    of kinship,

    and maintaining ties of kinship,

    أُمُوراً

    matters

    مَشْرُوعَةً

    legislated

    فِي

    in

    أَصْلِ

    the origin

    مِلَّةِ

    of the religion

    إِبْرَاهِيمَ

    of Abraham

    - عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ -

    - peace be upon him -

    matters legislated in the origin of the religion of Abraham - peace be upon him -

    وَكَانُوا

    and they

    يَتَمَادَحُونَ

    used to praise one another

    بِهِذِهِ

    for these

    الْأَعْمَالِ

    deeds

    وَيَرَوْنَهَا

    and consider them

    فَضِيلَةً

    a virtue

    وَمَفْخَرَةً،

    and a source of pride,

    and they used to praise one another for these deeds and consider them a virtue and a source of pride,

    إِلَّا

    except

    أَنَّ

    that

    جُمْهُورَ

    the majority

    الْمُشْرِكِينَ

    of the polytheists

    تَرَكُوهَا

    abandoned them

    وَانْصَرَفُوا

    and turned away

    عَنْهَا،

    from them,

    except that the majority of the polytheists abandoned them and turned away from them,

    وَأَصْبَحَتْ

    and became

    عِنْدَهُمْ

    with them

    هَذِهِ

    these

    الْأُمُورُ

    matters

    وَالشَّعَائِرُ

    and rites

    كَأَنْ

    as if

    لَمْ

    they did not

    تَكُنْ

    exist

    شَيْئاً.

    at all.

    and these matters and rites became with them as if they did not exist at all.

    وَكَانَ

    And was

    تَحْرِيمُ

    the prohibition

    الْقَتْلِ

    of killing

    وَالسَّرِقَةِ

    and theft

    وَالزِّنَا

    and adultery

    وَالرِّبَا

    and usury

    وَالْغَصْبِ

    and extortion

    ثَابِتاً

    established

    مَعْلُوماً

    and known

    فِي

    in

    أَصْلِ

    the origin

    الْمِلَّةِ

    of the religion

    الْحَنِيفِيَّةِ،

    of the pure monotheism,

    And the prohibition of killing, theft, adultery, usury, and extortion was established and known in the origin of the religion of pure monotheism,

    وَيَجْرِي

    and takes place

    اسْتِنْكَارُهَا

    their condemnation

    عِنْدَهُمْ

    among them

    فِي

    in

    الْجُمْلَةِ،

    general,

    and their condemnation generally takes place among them,

    وَلَكِنَّ

    but

    جُمْهُورَ

    the majority

    الْمُشْرِكِينَ

    of the polytheists

    كَانُوا

    used to

    يَرْتَكِبُونَهَا،

    commit them,

    but the majority of the polytheists used to commit them,

    وَيَنْسَاقُونَ

    and drive themselves

    وَرَاءَهَا

    behind them

    بِحُكْمِ

    by the rule

    النَّفْسِ

    of the soul

    الْأَمَّارَةِ

    that incites

    بِالسُّوءِ.

    to evil.

    and drive themselves behind them by the rule of the soul that incites to evil.
