O mankind

indeed, you are toiling

towards your Lord a [certain] toiling

The meaning: O sons of Adam,

individuals of the wording

because it is a noun of genus.

And bore it mankind

meaning: individuals of the people.

Denied the people of Noah the messengers

that is Noah alone.

Indeed, We have granted you

(that is: Indeed, I have granted for you)

Indeed, We are able

that is: Indeed, I am able.

And but Allah gives power to His messengers

that is: He gives power to Muhammad - peace and blessings be upon him -.

Those said to them the people

that is Urwah al-Thaqafi alone.

So He made it taste Allah the garment of hunger

that is: the taste of hunger.

He substituted the taste with the garment

signifying that hunger has an effect

of emaciation and withering

what covers the body and encompasses it like the garment.

The coloring of Allah

that is: religion of Allah.

He substituted with the coloring

signifying that it is like the dye

the soul takes color with it

or correspondence to the saying of the Christians regarding baptism.

And mount Sinai

that is: Mount Sinai.

Peace be upon Il-Yasin

that is upon Elijah.
