Said Abu Ma'shar: I came from Mecca until when I was at the back of Al-Mushallal at the grave of Muslim, a man from the people of Sham among those who attended the battle of Al-Harrah was traveling alongside me, so I said to him: This is the grave of Muslim ibn Uqbah. So he said: Shall I tell you something wondrous? There was with Muslim a man from the people of Sham who was called Abu Al-Ghra', and behold half of his hair was black and half of it was white, so I said to him: What is your matter? He said: When the night of Al-Harrah was, I came to Quba and I entered a house and behold in it was a woman sitting with her was a young child of hers belonging to her and there was not upon her anything except a shift and indeed everything of hers was taken away, so I said to her: Is there any wealth? She said: No, by Allah, indeed I pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, upon that I will not commit adultery and will not steal and will not kill my child. He said: so I took by the leg of the child and I struck with him against the wall. So I scattered his brains, and I went out and behold half of my head was white and half of it was black just as you see.
