إِنَّIndeedتَعَاقُبَهُمْtheir successionعَلَىinرِقَّةِweakness ofالدِّينِthe religion
Indeed, their succession in the weakness of the religion
فَقَدْfor indeedكَانَwasدِينُهُمْtheir religionسَامِرِيّاًSamaritan-like
for indeed their religion was Samaritan-like.
كَانَHe wasفَحْلاًa stallionزَمَانُهُمْtheir timeيَرْمَحُkickingالنَّاسَthe people
He was a stallion of their time, kicking the people,
فَأَضْحَىso he becameالزَّمَانُthe timeمِنْهُمْfrom themخَصِيّاًeunuch
so the time became castrated by them.
[مَحَاسِنُ[The beauties ofالسَّبْقِprecedingإِلَىtoالإِسْلَامِ]Islam]

رُوِيَIt was narratedعَنْfromعَائِشَةَ،Aisha,رَضِيَmay Allah be pleasedاللَّهُAllahعَنْهَا،with her,قَالَتْ:she said:
It was narrated from Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, she said:
خَرَجَSet outأَبُوAbuبَكْرٍ،Bakr,رَضِيَmay Allah be pleasedاللَّهُAllahعَنْهُ،with him,
Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, set out
يُرِيدُseekingرَسُولَthe Messengerاللَّهِ،of Allah,صَلَّىmay Allah invoke blessingsاللَّهُAllahعَلَيْهِupon himوَسَلَّمَ،and grant him peace,
seeking the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace,
قَبْلَbeforeالإِسْلَامِIslamوَكَانَand he wasلَهُfor himصَدِيقاًa friendفِيinالْجَاهِلِيَّةِthe pre-Islamic period
before Islam, and he had been a friend of his in the pre-Islamic period.
فَلَقِيَهُSo he met himفَقَالَ:and said:يَاOأَبَاAbuالْقَاسِمِal-Qasim,
So he met him and said: O Abu al-Qasim,
قَعَدْتَyou have abandonedفِيinمجَالِسِgatheringsقَوْمِكَof your peopleوَاتَّهَمُوكَand they have accused youبِالْعَيْبِwith faultلِآبَائِهَاregarding their fathersوَأَدْيَانِهَا.and their religions.
you have abandoned the gatherings of your people and they have accused you of fault regarding their fathers and their religions.
فَقَالَSo saidرَسُولُthe Messengerاللَّهِ،of Allah,صَلَّىmay Allah invoke blessingsاللَّهُAllahعَلَيْهِupon himوَسَلَّمَ:and grant him peace:
So the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
إِنِّيIndeed Iرَسُولُam the Messengerاللَّهِof AllahأَدْعُوكَI invite youإِلَىtoاللَّهِ.Allah.
Indeed I am the Messenger of Allah, I invite you to Allah.
فَمَاSo it was notكَانَexceptإِلَّاthatأَنْthatسَمِعَheardأَبُوAbuبَكْرٍBakrكَلاَمَthe speechرَسُولِof the Messengerاللَّهِ،of Allah,صَلَّىmay Allah invoke blessingsاللَّهُAllahعَلَيْهِupon himوَسَلَّمَ،and grant him peace,
No sooner had Abu Bakr heard the speech of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace,
فَشَرَحَthan openedاللَّهُAllahصَدْرَهُhis breastفَأَسْلَمَ،so he accepted Islam,
than Allah opened his breast and he accepted Islam.
فَانْصَرَفَSo turned awayعَنْهُfrom himرَسُولُthe Messengerاللَّهِ،of Allah,صَلَّىmay Allah invoke blessingsاللَّهُAllahعَلَيْهِupon himوَسَلَّمَ،and grant him peace,
The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, turned away from him,
وَمَاand notبَيْنَbetweenالْأَخْشَبَيْنِthe two mountainsأَحَدٌanyoneأَكْثَرُmoreسُرُوراًjoyfulبِإِسْلَامِwith the Islam ofأَبِيAbuبَكْرٍ،Bakr,رَضِيَmay Allah be pleasedاللَّهُAllahعَنْهُ،with him,مِنْهُ.than him.
and there was no one between the two mountains more joyful with the Islam of Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, than him.
وَمَضَىAnd proceededأَبُوAbuبَكْرٍBakrحَتَّىuntilأَتَىhe came toطَلْحَةَTalhahبْنَson ofعُبَيْدِUbaydاللَّهِAllahوَالزُّبَيْرَand al-Zubayrبْنَson ofالْعَوَّامِal-Awwamوَسَعْدَand Sa'dبْنَson ofأَبِيAbiوَقَّاصٍWaqqas
Abu Bakr proceeded until he came to Talhah ibn Ubayd Allah, al-Zubayr ibn al-Awwam, and Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas,
فَدَعَاهُمْso he invited themإِلَىtoالإِسْلَامِIslamفَأَسْلَمُوا،and they accepted Islam,
and he invited them to Islam, so they accepted Islam.
ثُمَّThenعُثْمَانَUthmanبْنَson ofمَظْعُونٍMaz'unوَأَبَاand AbuعُبَيْدَةَUbaydahبْنَson ofالْجَرَّاحِal-Jarrahوَعَبْدَand Abdالرَّحْمَنِal-Rahmanبْنَson ofعَوْفٍAwf
Then Uthman ibn Maz'un, Abu Ubaydah ibn al-Jarrah, Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf,
وَأَبَاand AbuسَلَمَةَSalamahبْنَson ofعَبْدِAbdالْأَسَدِal-Asadوَالْأَرْقَمَand al-Arqamبْنَson ofأَبِيAbiالْأَرْقَمِal-Arqam
Abu Salamah ibn Abd al-Asad, and al-Arqam ibn Abi al-Arqam,
مَعَalong withأَبِيAbuبَكْرٍBakrفَأَسْلَمُوا.so they accepted Islam.
along with Abu Bakr, so they accepted Islam.
