وَيُشْبِهُand it resemblesأَنَّthatيَكُونَit may beتَحْتَunderهَذَاthisالْخِطَابِspeechنَوْعٌa typeمِنْofالْعَتَابِreproachلَطِيفٌgentleعَجِيبٌstrange
And it resembles that under this speech is a type of gentle, strange reproach.
وَهُوَAnd it isأَنِيthat IعَادَيْتُopposedإِبْلِيسَIblisإِذْwhenلَمْdid notيَسْجُدْprostrateلِأَبِيكُمto your fatherآدَمَAdamمَعَwithمَلَائِكَتِيMy angelsفَكَانَتْSo it was
And it is that I opposed Iblis when he did not prostrate to your father Adam with My angels, so it was.
مُعَادَاتُهُHis oppositionلِأَجْلِكُمْfor your sakeثُمَّthenكَانَwasعَاقِبَةُthe consequenceهَذِهِof thisالْمُعَادَاةِoppositionأَنْthatعَقَدْتُمْyou have establishedبَيْنَكُمْbetween youوَبَيْنَهُand himعَهْدًاa covenantالْمُصالَحَةِof reconciliation
His opposition for your sake, then the consequence of this opposition was that you established a covenant of reconciliation between you and him.
فَصْلٌSection
Section
وَمِنَAnd amongعُقُوبَاتِهَاits punishmentsأَنْهَاis that itتَمْحَقُerasesبَرَكَةَthe blessingالْعُمْرِof lifeوَبَرَكَةَand the blessingالرِّزْقِof provisionوَبَرَكَةَand the blessingالْعِلْمِof knowledgeوَبَرَكَةَand the blessingالْعَمَلِof actionوَبَرَكَةَand the blessingالطَّاعَةِof obedienceوَبِالْجُمَلَةِand in summaryتَمْحَقُerasesبَرَكَةَthe blessingالدِّينِof religionوَالْدُّنْيَاand worldly affairs
And among its punishments is that it erases the blessings of life, provision, knowledge, action, and obedience; and in summary, it erases the blessings of both religion and the world.
فَلَاSo thereتَجِدُyou will findأَقَلَّlessبَرَكَةًblessingفِيinعُمُرِهِhis lifeوَدِينِهِand his religionوَدُنْيَاهُand his worldly affairsمِمَّنْthan one whoعَصَىdisobeyedاللَّهَAllah
So there you will find less blessing in his life, his religion, and his worldly affairs than one who disobeys Allah.
وَمَاAnd nothingمَحَقَتْerasedالْبَرَكَةَthe blessingمِنَfromالْأَرْضِthe landإِلَّاexceptبِمَعَاصِيby the disobedienceالْخَلْقِof creation
And nothing has erased the blessing from the land except by the disobedience of creation.
قَالَHe saidتَعَالَىMost HighوَلَوْAnd ifأَنَّthatأَهْلَthe people ofالْقُرَىthe villagesءَامَنُواhad believedوَاتَّقَوْاand fearedلَفَتَحْنَاWe would have openedعَلَيْهِمupon themبَرَكَاتٍblessingsمِّنَfromالسَّمَاءِthe heavensوَالْأَرْضِand the earth
He, Most High, said: "And if the people of the villages had believed and feared, We would have opened upon them blessings from the heavens and the earth." [Al-A'raf 96]
وَقَالَAnd He saidتَعَالَىMost Highوَأَلَّوِand if they hadاسْتَقَامُواbeen uprightعَلَىuponالطَّرِيقَةِthe pathلَأَسْقَيْنَاهُمWe would have provided themمَاءًwaterغَدَقًاabundantly
And He, Most High, said: "And if they had been upright upon the path, We would have provided them abundantly with water." [Al-Jinn 16]
وَإِنَّAnd indeedالْعَبْدَthe servantلَيُحْرَمُis deprivedالرِّزْقَof provisionبِالذَّنبِby the sinيُصِيبُهُthat befalls him
And indeed, the servant is deprived of provision by the sin that befalls him.
وَفِيAnd inالْحَدِيثِthe hadithإِنَّIndeedرُوحَthe spiritالْقُدُسِof the Holyنَفَثَتْinspiredفِيinرَوْعِيmy heartأَنَّهُthatلَنْwill notتَمُوتَdieنَفْسٌa soulحَتَّىuntilتَسْتَكْمِلَit completesرِزْقَهَاits provisionفَاتَّقُواSo fearاللَّهَAllahوَأَجْمِلُواand be moderateفِيinالطَّلَبِseekingفَإِنَّهُfor indeedلَاnothingيُنَالُis attainedمَاwhatعِندَis withاللَّهِAllahإِلَّاexceptبِطَاعَتِهِthrough His obedience.
And in the hadith: "Indeed, the spirit of the Holy inspired in my heart that no soul will die until it completes its provision. So fear Allah and be moderate in seeking, for indeed, nothing is attained of what is with Allah except through His obedience."
وَإِنَّAnd indeedاللَّهَAllahجَعَلَmadeالرَّوْحَthe spiritوَالْفَرَحَand joyفِيinالرِّضَاpleasure.
And indeed, Allah made the spirit and joy in pleasure.
