فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُWe will make it easyلِلْيُسْرَىٰfor easeوَأَمَّاAnd as forمَنْwhoبَخِلَis stingyوَاسْتَغْنَىٰand feels self-sufficientوَكَذَّبَand deniesبِالْحُسْنَىٰthe goodفَسَنُيَسِّرُهُWe will make him easyلِلْعُسْرَىٰfor hardshipأَخْرَجَهُIt was narratedالْجَمَاعَةُby the groupفِيinالصِّحَاحِthe authenticوَالسُّنَنِand the Sunnahوَالْمَسَانِيدِand the manuscripts.
We will make it easy for the easy, and as for those who are stingy and feel self-sufficient, and deny the good, we will make them easy for hardship. This has been narrated by the group in the authentic reports and the Sunnah and manuscripts.
وَرَوَىAnd it was narratedالتِّرْمِذِيُّby Al-Tirmidhiأَنَّthatالنَّبِيَّthe Prophet(صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ)(peace be upon him) سُئِلَwas askedفَقِيلَand it was saidيَاOرَسُولَ اللَّهِMessenger of AllahأَرَأَيْتَHave you seenأَدْوِيَةًmedicinesنَتَدَاوَىٰwe heal ourselves withبِهَاthemوَرُقًىand spellsنَسْتَرْقِيwe seek healing withبِهَاthemوَتَقَىٰand pietyنَتَّقِيَهَاwe avoidأَتَرُدُّDoes it counterمِنْtheقَدَرِ اللَّهِdecree of Allahشَيْئًاanything?فَقَالَHe (peace be upon him) saidهِيَIt isمِنْfrom theقَدَرِ اللَّهِdecree of Allah.
And it was narrated by Al-Tirmidhi that the Prophet (peace be upon him) was asked, 'O Messenger of Allah! Have you seen the medicines we heal ourselves with, and the spells we seek healing with, and the piety we avoid? Does it counter the decree of Allah?' He (peace be upon him) said, 'It is from the decree of Allah.'
وَقَدِAnd indeedجَاءَit has comeهَذَاthisالْمَعْنَىٰmeaningعَنِfromالنَّبِيِّthe Prophet(صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ)(peace be upon him)فِيinعِدَّةٍseveralأَحَادِيثٍnarrations.فَتَبَيَّنَAnd he explainedصَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ(peace be upon him)أَنَّthatتَقَدَّمَpredestinationالْعِلْمَof knowledgeوَالْكِتَابَand of revelationبِالسَّعِيدِof the happyوَالشَّقِيِّand the miserableلَاdoes notيُهَاوِيcontradictأَنْthatتَكُونَthere beسَعَادَةٌhappinessهَذَاthisبِالْأَعْمَالِwith good deedsالصَّالِحَةِrighteous.وَشَقَاوَةٌAnd miseryهَذَاthisبِالْأَعْمَالِwith the deedsالسَّيِّئَةِevil.
And indeed it has come from the Prophet (peace be upon him) in several narrations. And he explained that predestination of knowledge and revelation of the happy and the miserable does not contradict that this happiness is with good deeds, and this misery is with evil deeds.
فَإِنَّهُIndeed, HeسُبْحَانَهُGlory be to Him,يَعْلَمُknowsالْأُمُورَthe mattersعَلَىٰas theyمَاwhichهِيَthey are.عَلَيْهِAnd likewiseوَكَذَلِكَAnd He writes them.يَكْتُبُهَاHe writes them.فَهُوَSo He knowsيَعْلَمُthatأَنَّthe happyالسَّعِيدَis happyيَسْعَدُwith righteous deeds,بِالْأَعْمَالِand the miserableالصَّالِحَةِis miserable with the evil deeds.
Indeed, He, Glory be to Him, knows the matters as they are and likewise He writes them. So He knows that the happy is happy with righteous deeds, and the miserable is miserable with evil deeds.
فَمَنWhoeverكَانَisسَعِيدًاhappy,يُسْرَwill be facilitated for himلِلْأَعْمَالِthe righteous deeds,الصَّالِحَةِand the miserableوَالشَّقِيُّwill be facilitated for himيَشْقَىin his evil deeds.فَمَنSo whoeverكَانَis forالأَعْمَالِthe evil deedsالسَّيِّئَةِthat require misery,الَّتِيthose bothتَقْتَضِيwill be facilitated accordingly.الشَّقَاوَةَAnd each of them is made easy for what they were created for.كِلَاهُمَاeach of themمُيَسَّرٌis facilitated forلِمَاwhatخُلِقَthey were createdلَهُto do.وَهُوَAnd that is whatمَاwill be returned to themيَصِيرُ إِلَيْهِaccording to the decree of Allah.مِنْ مَشِيئَةِ اللَّهِAnd according to the will of Allah.الْعَامَّةِthe general.الْكَوْنِيَّةِThe cosmic decree.الَّتِي ذُكِرَتْwhich He mentionedاللَّهُ سُبْحَانَهُAllah, Glory be to Him,فِي كِتَابِهِin His Book.فِي قَوْلِهِIn His sayingتَعَالَىMost HighهُودَHud:وَلَا يَزَالُونَAnd they will continueمُخْتَلِفِينَto be dividedإِلَّاexceptمَنْthose whoرَحِمَ رَبُّكَYour Lord has mercy upon.وَلِذَٰلِكَAnd for thatخَلَقَهُمْHe created them.
So whoever is happy will be facilitated for the righteous deeds, and the miserable will be facilitated for their evil deeds. So whoever is for the evil deeds that require misery, each of them is made easy for what they were created for, and that is what will align with the will of Allah, the general cosmic decree, which Allah, Glory be to Him, has mentioned in His Book in His saying, 'And they will continue to be divided except those upon whom Your Lord has mercy; and for that, He created them.'
وَأَمَّاAnd as forمَاwhatخُلِقُواthey were created forلَهُin love of Allahمِنْ مَحَبَّةِ اللَّهِand His pleasureوَرِضَاهُand approval.وَهُوَAnd He isإِرَادَتُهُHis willالدِّينِيَّةُreligious.وَأَمْرُهُAnd His commandingبِمَوْجِبَاتِهَاof its requirementsفَذَٰلِكَThat isمَذْكُورٌmentionedفِي قَوْلِهِin His sayingالذَّارِيَاتِthe Winds.وَمَاAnd I have notخَلَقْتُcreatedالْجِنَّthe jinnوَالْإِنْسَand mankindإِلَّاexceptلِيَعْبُدُونِto worship.
And as for what they were created for in love of Allah and His pleasure, and He is His religious will and His commanding of its requirements, that is mentioned in His saying, 'And I have not created the jinn and mankind except to worship me.'
وَاللَّهُAnd AllahسُبْحَانَهُGlory be to Himقَدْ بَيَّنَhas clarifiedفِي كِتَابِهِin His Bookفِي كُلِّin eachواحِدَةٍoneمِنَofالْكَلِمَاتِthe wordsوَالْأَمْرِand the commandوَالْإِرَادَةِand the willوَالْإِذْنِand the permissionوَالْكِتَابِand the decreeوَالْحُكْمِand judgmentوَالْقَضَاءِand destinyوَالتَّحْرِيمِand prohibitionوَنَحْوَ ذَلِكَand similar to that.
And Allah, Glory be to Him, has clarified in His Book in each of the words: the command, the will, the permission, the decree, the judgment, the destiny, the prohibition, and similar to that.
مِمَّاfrom whatهُوَisدِينِيٌّreligious
that is religious.
مُوَافَقَتُهُConformsلِمَحَبَّةِto the loveاللَّهِof Allahوَرِضَاهُand His pleasure.وَأَمْرُهُAnd His commandالشَّرْعِيَّةُlegitimate.وَمَاAnd whatهُوَisكَوْنِيَّةٌcosmicمُوَافَقَتُهُconformsلِمَشِيئَتِهِto His willالْكَوْنِيَّةِcosmic.
That conforms to the love of Allah and His pleasure, and His legitimate command, and that which is cosmic conforms to His cosmic will.
مِثَالٌAn example of thatذَلِكَis thatأَنَّهُHe saidفِيinالْأَمْرِthe commandالدِّينِيِّreligious:النَّحْلُthe bee.إِنَّIndeedاللَّهَAllahيَأْمُرُcommandsبِالْعَدْلِjusticeوَالْإِحْسَانِand benevolence,وَإِيتَاءِand the givingذِي القُرْبَىto relatives.وَقَالَAnd He saidتَعَالَىMost Highالنِّسَاءُthe Women:إِنَّIndeedاللَّهَAllahيَأْمُرُكُمْcommands youأَنْthat youتُؤَدُّواrenderالْأَمَانَاتَthe trustsإِلَىtoأَهْلِهَاtheir rightful owners.وَنَحْوَ ذَلِكَand similar to that.
An example of that is that He said in the religious command: 'Indeed, Allah commands justice and benevolence, and the giving to relatives.' And He Most High said, 'Indeed, Allah commands you that you render the trusts to their rightful owners and similar to that.'
وَقَالَAnd He saidفِيinالْكَوْنِيِّthe cosmic:يَاسِينَYaseen:إِنَّمَاIndeed,أَمْرُهُHis commandإِذَاWhenأَرَادَHe willsشَيْئًاsomethingأَنْthatيَقُولَHe saysلَهُto itكُنْ'Be'فَيَكُونَand it is.وَكَذَٰلِكَAnd likewiseقَوْلُهُHis sayingالإِسْرَاءُthe Night Journey:وَإِذَاAnd whenأَرَدْنَاWe intendأَنْtoنُهْلِكَdestroyقَرِيَةًa cityأَمَرْنَاWe commandمُتْرَفِيهَاits wealthy onesفَفَسَقُواand they transgressedفِيهَاupon it.فَحَقَّThen the wordعَلَيْهَاwas fulfilledالْقَوْلُupon itعَلَىٰas one ofأَحَدِthe statementsالْأَقْوَالِin this verse.
And He said in the cosmic: 'Indeed, when He wills something, He says to it, 'Be,' and it is.' And likewise, His saying in the Night Journey: 'And when We intend to destroy a city, We command its wealthy ones, and they transgress upon it. Then the word was fulfilled upon it as one of the statements in this verse.'
وَقَالَAnd He saidفِيinالْإِرَادَاتِthe wills:الدِّينِيَّةِthe religious:الْبَقَرَةُthe Cow:يُرِيدُHe willsاللَّهُAllahبِكُمْfor youالْيُسْرَeaseوَلَاand does notيُرِيدُwill for youبِكُمْhardship.الْعُسْرَHe willsالنِّسَاءُthe Women:يُرِيدُHe willsاللَّهُAllahلِيُبَيِّنَto clarifyلَكُمْfor youوَيَهْدِيَكُمْand to guide you.سُنَنَthe waysالَّذِينَof thoseمِنْ قَبْلِكُمْwho were before you.وَيَتُوبَAnd He will accept repentanceعَلَيْكُمْfrom you.وَاللَّهُAnd Allahعَلِيمٌis Knowingحَكِيمٌand Wise.
And He said in the religious will: 'Allah wills ease for you and does not will hardship for you.' In the Women: 'Allah wills to clarify for you and guide you to the ways of those who were before you, and He will accept repentance from you. And Allah is Knowing and Wise.'
الْمَائِدَةُThe Table Spread:مَاWhatيُرِيدُAllah willsاللَّهُis to makeلِيَجْعَلَyou not burdened with hardship.عَلَيْكُمْBut He wills to purify you.مِنْ حَرَجٍfrom any difficulty,وَلَكِنbut He willsيُرِيدُto purify you.لِيُطَهِّرَكُمْAnd He wills to accept repentance from you.
The Table Spread: 'What Allah wills is to make you not burdened with hardship. But He wills to purify you.'
وَقَالَAnd He saidفِيinالْإِرَادَاتِthe willsالْكَوْنِيَّةِthe cosmic:الْبَقَرَةُthe Cow:وَلَوْ شَاءَAnd had Allah willed,اللَّهُAllah would notمَاhave permitted (them) to fight.اقْتَتَلُواBut Allah does what He wills.وَلَكِنAnd He said in the cattle.اللَّهُAllahيَفْعَلُdoes what He wills.
And He said in the cosmic wills: 'And had Allah willed, they would not have fought; but Allah does what He wills.'
وَقَالَAnd He saidالْأَنْعَامُthe Cattle:فَمَنSo whoeverيُرِيدُwillsاللَّهُAllahأَنْtoيَهْدِيَهُguide him,يَشْرَحُHis heart will be openedصَدْرَهُto Islam.لِلْإِسْلَامِto Islam.وَمَنAnd whoeverيُرِيدُwillsأَنْtoيُضِلَّهُlead astray,يَجْعَلُHe will makeصَدْرَهُHis heartضَيِّقًاtightحَرَجًاand constrictedكَأَنَّمَاas ifيَصْعَدُhe ascendsفِيinالسَّمَاءِthe sky.
And He said in the Cattle: 'So whoever Allah wills to guide, His heart will be opened to Islam; and whoever He wills to lead astray, He will make his heart tight and constricted as if he is ascending in the sky.'
وَقَالَAnd He saidنُوحٌNoahعَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُpeace be upon him:هُودٌHud:وَلَا يَنفَعُكُمْAnd my counsel will not benefit you.
And Noah (peace be upon him) said: 'Hud: And my counsel will not benefit you.'
