And Allah has mentioned this word, 'My sufficient is Allah' in bringing benefit sometimes and in removing harm other times.
فَالْأُولَىٰSo the firstقَوْلُهُsayingالتَّوْبَةِof repentanceوَلَوْAnd ifأَنَّهُمْtheyرَضُواwere pleasedمَاwith whatآتَاهُمُHe has given themاللَّهُAllahوَرَسُولُهُand His Messengerوَقَالُواand they saidحَسْبُنَاMy sufficient isاللَّهُAllahسَيُؤْتِينَاHe will give usاللَّهُAllahمِنْfromفَضْلِهِHis bountyوَرَسُولُهُand His Messengerالْآيَةُthe verse
So the first is the saying of repentance, 'And if they were pleased with what Allah and His Messenger have given them and they said, 'My sufficient is Allah, He will give us from His bounty and from His Messenger.'

And the second saying is from the family of Imran, 'Those who said to them, 'Indeed, the people have gathered against you, so fear them,' but it increased them in faith, and they said, 'My sufficient is Allah, and excellent is the protector.'

It includes the command of being pleased and trusting, and being pleased and trusting surround the destined; trusting is before its occurrence while being pleased is after its occurrence.
وَلِهَذَاAnd for this reasonكَانَwasالنَّبِيُّthe Prophet(صلى(peaceاللَّهُAllahعَلَيْهِupon himوَسَلَّمَ)and peace) very oftenيَقُولُwould sayفِيinالصَّلَاةِprayerاللَّهُمَّO Allahبِعِلْمِكَby Your knowledgeالْغَيْبِof the unseenوَبِقُدْرَتِكَand by Your powerعَلَىoverالْخَلْقِthe creationأَحْيِنِيgive me lifeمَاas long asعَلِمْتَYou knowالْحَيَاةَlifeخَيْرًاis goodلِيfor meوَتَوَفَّنِيand take meإِذَاifكَانَتِit isالْمَوْتُdeathخَيْرًاis goodلِيfor me
And for this reason, the Prophet (peace be upon him) would very often say in prayer, 'O Allah, by Your knowledge of the unseen, and by Your power over the creation, give me life as long as You know life is good for me, and take me if death is good for me.'

And as for what will be before the decree, it is a determination to be pleased, and there is no truth for being pleased. And for this reason, a group of scholars are determined to be pleased before the occurrence of trials.
