(And not) an opposite (for him, that is, there is no equivalent to him, nor any partner, nor is there any equal to him). The counterpart in the sense of an example and equivalent does not exist (for him, that is, he has no partner in species, because he has no type as he has no genus. Similarity is the sharing in the kind).

So if it is said that they are similar, it means that they agree in essence and quality. And he has a hand and a face and a soul as mentioned by God, the Exalted, in the Quran, by His saying 'the hand of God is above their hands,' and by His saying '(And the face of your Lord remains eternally),' and by His saying in a narration about Jesus, 'You know what is in my soul, and I do not know what is in your soul.' (And in some versions: 'So what is mentioned by God in the Quran regarding mentioning the face, hand, and soul - they are attributes for Him without how, meaning their origin is known, and their description is unknown to us. Therefore, the known origin is not negated by similarity and inability to grasp the description. It was narrated from Ahmad ibn Hanbal, may God have mercy on him, that the manner of how it is, is unknown, and researching it is an innovation. (And it should not be said that the hand of God, exalted be He.'

He brought out the offspring of Adam from his loins, so He made them wise; then He addressed them and commanded them to believe, and forbade them from disbelief, so they acknowledged Him in lordship.
