وَقَوْلُهُAnd his sayingتَعَالَىExaltedيَاOأَيُّهَاO (addressing)النَّبِيُّthe ProphetاتَّقِFearاللَّهَAllah
And His saying, Exalted is He: 'O Prophet, fear Allah.'
وَالنَّبِيُّAnd the Prophetأَعْمَis broader
And the Prophet is broader than the Messenger.
وَيَدُلُّAnd it indicatesعَلَيْهِto itأَنَّهُthat heعَلَيْهِupon himالسَّلَامُpeaceسُئِلَwas askedعَنْaboutالْأَنْبِيَاءَthe Prophetsفَقَالَhe saidمِئَةًone hundredأَلْفٌthousandوَأَرْبَعَةًand fourعِشْرُونَtwentyأَلْفًاthousands
And it indicates that he, upon him be peace, was asked about the Prophets, and he said: 'One hundred and twenty-four thousand.'
قِيلَIt was saidفَكَمthen how manyالرُّسُلَthe Messengersمِنْهُمْfrom themفَقَالَhe saidثَلاث مِئَةٍthree hundredوَثَلاثَةٍand threeعَشَرَtenجَمٌّis a large numberغَفِيرٌa great congregation(وَصَفِيُّهُ)(also referred to as)أَيُّwhich meansمُصْطَفَاهُthe chosen oneوَandمُخْتَارٌthe selected
It was said: 'Then how many of them are Messengers?' He said: 'Three hundred and thirteen, and they are a great congregation, referred to as the chosen one.'
قَالَHe saidرَسُولُthe Messengerاللَّهِof Allahﷺ(peace be upon him)إِنَّIndeedاللَّهَAllahاصْطَفَىhas chosenكِنَانَةَKinanaمِنْfromوَلَدِthe offspringإِسْمَاعِيلَof Ismailوَاصْطَفَىand has chosenقُرَيْشًاthe QurayshمِنْfromكِنَانَةَKinanaوَاصْطَفَىand has chosenمِنْfromقُرَيْشٍthe Qurayshبَنِيthe sons ofهَاشِمَHashimوَاصْطَفَانِيand has chosen meمِنْfromبَنِيthe sons ofهَاشِمَHashimكَذَاso is itفِيinالمَصَابِيحِAl-Masabih (The Lamps)(وَنَقِيَّهِ)(and He purified me)أَيُّwhich meansمُنْتَقَاهُselectedتَعَالَىExalted is Heمِثْلُsimilar toمُصْطَفَاهُthe chosen oneلَفْظًاin wordingلِأَنَّbecauseاللَّهَAllahتَعَالَىExalted is Heنَقَّىpurifiedوَطَهَّرَand cleansedقَلْبَهُhis heartاللَّهُAllahفِيinزَمَنِthe timeصِبَاهُof his youthعَنْfromالمَادَّةِthe materialالَّتِيthatتَمْنَعُهُprevents himمِنْfromالتَّرَقِّيascendancyقَالَHe saidأَنَسٌAnasرَضِيَ اللّهُ عَنْهُmay Allah be pleased with himإِنَّIndeedرَسُولُthe Messengerاللَّهِof Allahأَتَاهُcame to himجِبْرِيلُGabrielوَهُوَand he wasمَعَwithالْغُلْمَانِthe boysفَأَخَذَهُso he took himفَصَرَعَهُand threw him downفَشَقَّand split openعَنْfromقَلْبِهِhis heartفَاسْتَخْرَجَand extractedمِنْهُfrom itعَلَقَةًa clinging thingوَقَالَand saidهَذَاthisحَظٌّportionالشَّيْطَانِthe devilمِنْكَfrom youثُمَّthenغَسَلَهُhe washed itفِيinطَسْتٍa basinمِنْofذَهَبٍgoldبِمَاءِwith waterزَمْزَمَZamzamثُمَّthenلَأُمِّهِhe gave it back to its motherوَأَعَادَهُand returned itفِيinمَكَانِهِits placeوَجَاءَand cameالْغُلْمَانُthe boysيَسْعَوْنَrunningإِلَىtoأُمِّهِhis motherيَعْنِيmeaningظِئْرِهِwet nurseفَقَالُواso they saidإِنَّindeedمُحَمَّدًاMuhammadقَدْhasقُتِلَbeen killedيَلْعَبُplaying
Then they came to his mother, meaning his wet nurse, and said: 'Indeed, Muhammad has been killed while playing.'
اللَّهُAllahتَعَالَىExalted is Heيَقْضِيdecreesحَاجَاتِthe needsأَعْدَائِهِof His enemiesاسْتِدْرَاجًاas a lureلَهُمْfor themوَعُقُوبَةًand as a punishmentلَهُمْfor themفَيُغْتَرُونَso they are deceivedبِهِby itوَيَزْدَادُونَand they increaseطُغْيَانًاin their tyrannyوَكُفْرًاand disbelief
Indeed, Allah, Exalted is He, decrees the needs of His enemies as a lure for them and as a punishment for them, so they are deceived by it and they increase in their tyranny and disbelief.
وَذَٰلِكَAnd thatكُلٌّallجَائِزٌis permissibleمُمْكِنٌand possibleوَكَانَand wasاللَّهُAllahتَعَالَىExalted is Heخَالِقًاa creator
And all that is permissible and possible, and Allah, Exalted is He, was a creator before He created.
