عَطَاءٌGiving::وَعَنْAnd aboutهُوَheأَنَّthatلَاnoتَعْبَثْplay aroundبِشَيءٍwith somethingمِنْofجَسَدِكَyour bodyوَأَنْتَand youفِيinالصَّلَاةِthe prayer

Giving: And about he said that you should not play around with anything of your body while you are in prayer.

وَأَبْصَرَAnd sawالنَّبِيَّthe Prophet,,رَجُلاًa manيَعْبَثُplaying aroundبِلِحْيَتِهِwith his beardفِيinالصَّلَاةِthe prayer.

And the Prophet saw a man playing with his beard during the prayer.

فَقَالَSo he said::«لَوْ"Ifخَشَعَhis heart humblesقَلْبُthe heartهَذَاthisلَخَشَعَتْwould have humbledجَوَارِحُهُhis limbs»"

So he said: "If this heart were humble, his limbs would have humbled as well."

(٢)(2)وَلَفْظٌAnd the termالْخُشُوعِhumility--إِنْifشَاءَwantsاللَّهُAllahـ-يَبْسُطُwill explainفِيinمَوْضِعٍanother placeآخَرَanother

(2) And the term humility - if Allah wills - will be explained in another place.

وَخُشُوعٌAnd humilityالْجَسَدِthe bodyتَبَعَfollowsالْخُشُوعِthe humilityالْقَلْبِof the heart,,إِذَاifلَمْnotيَكُنْbeالرَّجُلُthe manمُرَائِيًاshowing offيَظْهَرُappearsمَاwhatلَيْسَis notفِيinقَلْبِهِhis heartكَمَاasرُوِيَit was narrated

And the humility of the body follows the humility of the heart, if the man is not showing off appearing what is not in his heart as it was narrated.

«تَعَوَّذُوا"Seek refugeبِاللَّهِwith Allahمِنْfromخُشُوعِhumilityالنِّفَاقِhypocrisy(٣)(3)

"Seek refuge with Allah from the humility of hypocrisy." (3)

وَهُوَAnd it isأَنْthatيَرَىone seesالْجَسَدَthe bodyخَاشِعًاhumbleالنِّفَاقَhypocrisy,,وَالْقَلْبَand the heartخَالِيًاemptyلَاهِيًاdistracted

And it is that one sees the body humble with hypocrisy, while the heart is empty and distracted.

فَهُوَSo Heسُبْحَانَهُis exaltedاسْتَبْطَأَtook a long timeالْمُؤْمِنِينَthe believersبِقَوْلِهِby His saying::﴿أَلَمْ"Has notيَأْنِcome the timeلِلَّذِينَfor those whoءَامَنُواbelieveأَنthatتَخْشَعَthey humbleقُلُوبُهُمْtheir heartsلِذِكْرِto the remembrance ofاللَّهِAllahوَمَاand whatنَزَلَwas revealedمِنَfromالْحَقِّthe truth

So He, exalted, took a long time for the believers by His saying: "Has not the time come for those who believe to humble their hearts to the remembrance of Allah and what was revealed from the truth?"

فَدَعَاهُمْSo He called themإِلَىtoخُشُوعِhumilityالْقَلْبِof the heartلِذِكْرِهِfor His remembranceوَمَاand whatنَزَلَwas revealedمِنْfromكِتَابِهِHis Book،,وَنَهَاهُمْand forbade themأَنْtoيَكُونُواbeكَالَّذِينَlike those whoطَالَتْlongعَلَيْهِمُover themالْأَمَدُthe timeفَقَسَتْhardenedقُلُوبُهُمْtheir hearts

So He called them to the humility of the heart for His remembrance and what was revealed from His Book, and forbade them to be like those for whom the time has prolonged, so their hearts hardened.

(1) The narration is authentic, and it has been narrated in full by Al-Hakim and others: that the narration from Ibn Sirrin was narrated by Abd bin Hamid, Ibn Jarir, Ibn Al-Mundhir, and Ibn Abu Hatim.

(2) The narration is very weak, and I have discussed it in the weak narrations (number 110) and the mention by the author, may Allah have mercy on him, of this narration certainly elevated to the Prophet (peace be upon him) is one of the worst what has happened to him.)

And if this were from others, we would not have puzzled by it, for he is a preserver and critic as a leader, but every good steed has a fall, but the weakness of his narration is that in it is Suleiman bin Amr. Ibn Adi said they agreed that he puts the narration.
