وَلَيْسَand notكَذَلكَ،likewise,فَقَوْلُهُ:for His saying:﴿لَتَدْخُلُنَّ"You will surely enterالْمَسْجِدَthe Mosqueالْحَرَامَthe Sacred

And not so, for His saying: "You will surely enter the Sacred Mosque..." (Al-Fath: 27), there is no doubt about it from Allah, nor from His Messenger and the believers.

وَلِهَذَاAnd thusقَالَsaidثَعْلَبٌ:Thalab:هَذَاthisاسْتِثْنَاءٌis an exceptionمِنَfromاللَّهِAllahوَقَدْand hasعَلِمَهُknown itوَالْخَلْقُand the creationيَسْتَثْنُونَexcludeفِيمَاin whatلَاnotيَعْلَمُونَ.they know.

And thus Thalab said: "This is an exception from Allah, and He has known it, while the creation makes exceptions in what they do not know."

وَقَالَAnd saidأَبُوAbuعُبَيْدَةَUbaidahوَابْنُand Ibnقُتَيْبَةَ:Qutaybah:(إِنَّ)"Indeed"بِمَعْنَىmeansإِذٍ"when"أَيْ:that is: إِذٍwhenشَاءَwilledاللَّهُ،Allah,وَمَقْصُودُهُمْand their intentionبِهَذَاwith thisتَحْقِيقٌis to confirmالْفِعْلَthe actionبِـ«إِنَّwith 'Indeed' asكَماasيَتَحَقَّقُit is confirmedمَعَwithإِذٍ،when,وَإِلَّاand otherwiseفَإِذٍ،forظَرْفٌis a timingتَوْقِيتٌ،circumstance,وَ«إِنَّ»and 'Indeed' حَرْفٌis a wordتَعْلِيقٍ.of dependency.

And Abu Ubaidah and Ibn Qutaybah said: "‘Indeed’ means ‘when’: that is, when Allah wills, and their intention behind this is to confirm the action as 'Indeed' is confirmed with 'when'. Otherwise, 'when' is a timing circumstance, and 'Indeed' is a word of dependency.

فَإِنْIf it is said:قِيلَ:it is said:(فَالعَرَبُ(the Arabsتَقُولُ:say:إِذَاifاحْمَرَّthe color turnsالْبَسَرُthe datesفَأَتِنِي،then come to me,وَلَاand notتَقُولُ:say:إِنَّIndeedاحْمَرَّthe color turnsالْبَسَرُ).the dates).قِيلَ:It is said:لَأَنَّbecauseالْمَقْصُودَthe intentionهُنَاhereتَوْقِيتٌis timingالإِتِيَانَof comingبِحِينِat the time ofاحْمِرَارِهِits ripeningفَأَتُواthen they cameبِالظَّرْفِwith the circumstanceالْمُحَقَّقِ،that is confirmed,

If it is said: 'the Arabs say: If the dates turn red, then come to me,' and do not say: 'Indeed if the dates turn red.' It is said: Because the intention here is the timing of coming at the time of its ripening, so they brought the confirmed circumstance.

وَلَفْظُAnd the wording«إِنَّ'Indeed' لَاdoes notيَدُلُّindicateعَلَىuponتَوْقِيتٍthe timingبَلْbutهِيَit isتَعْلِيقٌa mere dependencyمَحْضٌpurelyتَقْتَضِيthat necessitatesارْتِبَاطَthe connectionالْفِعْلِof the actionالثَّانِيthe secondبِالأَوَّلِto the first

And the wording 'Indeed' does not indicate timing, but it is purely a dependency that necessitates the connection of the second action to the first.

وَنَظِيرُAnd an analogyمَاwhatنَحْنُweفِيهِin itأَنْis thatيَقُولُواthey sayالْبَسَرُthe datesيَحْمِيرُturn redوَيَطِيبُand become goodإِنْifشَاءَwilledاللَّهُ،Allah,وَهَذَاand thisحَقٌّ،is true,فَهَذَاthis isنَظِيرٌan analogyذَلِكَ.of that.

And the analogy in what we have is that they say: 'the dates turn red and become good if Allah wills,' and this is true, so this is analogous to that.

فَإِنْIf it is said:قِيلَ:it is said:فَطَائِفَةٌThen a groupمِنَofالنَّاسِthe peopleفَرُّواfledمِنْfromهَذَاthisالمَعْنَىmeaningوَجَعَلُواand madeالِاسْتِثْنَاءَthe exceptionلِأَمْرٍfor a matterمُشْكُوكٍdubiousفِيهِ،in it,فَقَالَit is said

If it is said: Then a group of people fled from this meaning and made the exception for a matter that is dubious.

الزُّجَّاجُ:Al-Zajjaj:لَتَدْخُلُنَّ"You will surely enterالْمَسْجِدَthe Mosqueالْحَرَامَ"the Sacred".[الفتح:(Al-Fath:٢٧]27) أَيْ:that is:أَمْرَكُمْAllah commanded you.اللَّهُAllahبِهِ.with it.

Al-Zajjaj said: "You will surely enter the Sacred Mosque" (Al-Fath: 27) that is: Allah commanded you with it.

وَقِيلَ:And it is said:الِاسْتِثْنَاءُthe exceptionيَعُودُreturnsإِلَىtoالأَمْنِsecurityوَالخَوْفِand fearأَيْ:that is:لَتَدْخُلُنَّهُyou will enter itآمِنِينَ،secure,فَأَمَّاAs forالدُّخُولِthe enteringفَلَاthere is noشَكٌّdoubtفِيهِ.in it.

And it is said: the exception returns to security and fear, that is: you will enter it secure, as for the entering, there is no doubt in it.

وَقِيلَ:And it is said:لَتَدْخُلُنَّyou will surely enterجَمِيعُكُمْall of youأَوْorبَعْضُكُمْ،some of you,لِأَنَّهُbecause heعَلِمَknowsأَنَّthatبَعْضَهُمْsome of themيَمُوتُ،will die,فَالِاسْتِثْنَاءُso the exceptionلِأَنَّهُمْis because theyلَمْdid notيَدْخُلُواenterجَمِيعَهُمْ.all of them.

And it is said: you will surely enter, all of you or some of you, because he knows that some of them will die, so the exception is because they did not all enter.

قِيلَ:It is said:كُلُّAllهَذِهِtheseالأَقْوَالُsayingsوَقَعَتْoccurredأَصْحَابُهَاits ownersفِي مَاin whatفَرُّواthey fledمِنْهُ،from it,مَعَwhileخُرُوجِهِمtheir departureعَنْfromمَدْلُولِthe meaningالْقُرْآنِ،of the Quran,فَحَرَّفُوهُand they distorted itتَحْرِيفًاa distortionلَمْnotيَنَتَفِعُواbenefitبَهِ،from it,

It is said: All these sayings occurred from their owners in what they fled from it, while their departure from the meaning of the Quran, and they distorted it into a distortion that they did not benefit from.

فَإِنَّFor indeedقَوْلَthe sayingمَنْof those whoقَالَ:said:أَيُّthat Allah commanded themأَمْرَكُمْto doاللَّهُHe, Allahبِهِ،has known it,قَدْis aware,عَلِمَ،did He command them or not?هَلْHe knows.يَأْمُرُهُمْHe knows whether He will command them to enter it.أَوْorلَاnot,فَقَدْfor indeedعَلِمَهُHis knowledgeبِأَنَّهُthat Heسَيَأْمُرُهُمْwill command themبِدُخُولِهِمto enter it,كَعِلْمِهِis like His knowledgeبِأَنَّهُمْthat theyسَيَدْخُلُونَ،will enter,فَعَلَّقُواso He attachedالِاسْتِثْنَاءَthe exceptionبِمَاto whatلَمْdid notيَدُلَّindicateعَلَيْهitاللَّفْظُthe wordingوَعَلْمُand knowledgeاللَّهِAllahمُتَعَلِّقٌis relatedبِالْمَظْهَرِto the manifestوَالْمُضْمَرِand the implicitجَمِيعًا،all,

For indeed the saying of those who said: 'Allah commanded them' is that He is aware whether He will command them to enter it or not. His knowledge that He will command them to enter it is like His knowledge that they will enter, so He attached the exception to what did not indicate the wording, and knowledge of Allah is related to both the manifest and the implicit.

وَكَيْذَلكَAnd likewiseأَمْنُهُمْtheir securityوَخَوْفُهُمْ،and their fear,هُوَHe knowsيَعْلَمُthat theyأَنَّهُمْthat theyيَدْخُلُونَwill enterآمِنِينَsecureأَوْorخَائِفِينَ،afraid,وَقَدْand He hasأَخْبَرَinformedأَنَّهُمْthat theyيَدْخُلُونَwill enterآمِنِينَ،secure,مَعَwithعِلْمِهِHis knowledgeبِأَنَّهُمْthat theyيَدْخُلُونَ ،will enter,آمِنِينَ،secure,فَكِلَاso both haveهُمْnotلَمْbeيَكُنin itشَكٌّdoubtعِندَinاللَّهِ،Allah,بَلْrather norوَلَاfromعِندَinرَسُولِهِHis Messengerوَقَوْلُand the sayingمَنْof those whoقَالَ:said:جَمِيعُهُمْall of themأَوْorبَعْضُهُمْ،some of them,يُقَالُ:is said:الْمُعَلَّقُthe conditionalبِالْمَشِيئَةِby His willدُخُولُthe enteringمِمَّاof what is intendedأُرِيدَby the wording,فَإِنَّهُIf he intendedكَانَall,أَرَادَthen allالْجَمِيعُmustلَاnotبِدًاmustيَدْخُلُوهُ،enter it,وَإِنْand ifأُرِيدَhe intendsالأَكْثَرَ،the most,كَانَthen accessدُخُولُهُمْto themهُوَisالْمُعَلَّقُdependentبِالْمَشِيئَةِ،upon His will,وَمَاand whatلَمْdid notيُرِدْintend,لَاnotيَجُوزُallowed.

And likewise their security and fear, He knows that they will enter secure or afraid, and He has informed that they will enter secure, with His knowledge that they will enter secure. So both have no doubt in it with Allah, nor even with His Messenger. And the saying of those who said: all of them or some of them, is said: the dependent upon the will has to do with the entering of what is intended by the wording. If he intended all, then all must enter it, and if he intended the most, then their entering is dependent upon His will, and what he did not intend is not allowed.
