حَتَّىٰSo thatآخُذَI may takeهَٰؤُلَاءِtheseالْفَارِينَfugitives

So that I may take these fugitives.

وَتَقَدَّمَAnd advancedفِرْعَوْنُPharaohبِجُنُودِهِ،with his soldiers,فَجَزِعَso became distressedبَنُوthe Childrenإِسْرَائِيلَof Israelمَرَّةًonceأُخْرَىٰ.again.

And Pharaoh advanced with his soldiers, so the Children of Israel became distressed once again.

هَاHereهُوَisالْعَدُوُّ،the enemy,هَاhereهُوَisالظَّالِمُ،the oppressor,يُرِيدُhe wantsأَنْtoيَعْبُرَcrossالطَّرِيقَthe wayإِلَيْنَا.to us.

Here is the enemy, here is the oppressor, he wants to cross the way to us.

وَلَاAnd notيَمْنَعُهُprevents himمِنَّاfrom usشَيْءٌ،anything,وَسَيُلْحِقُنَاand he will catch up with usوَيَأْخُذَنَاand take usإِلَىٰtoمِصْرَEgyptمَأْسُورِينَcaptivesأَذِلَّاءَhumiliated

And nothing prevents him from us, and he will catch up with us and take us to Egypt, captives, humiliated.

أَوْorيَقْتُلُنَاkill usفِيinهَٰذِهِthisالْبَرِّيَّةِwildernessغُرَبَاءَ.strangers.

or kill us in this wilderness, strangers.

وَأَرَادَAnd wantedمُوسَىٰMosesأَنْtoيَضْرِبَstrikeبِعَصَاهُwith his staffالْبَرَّ،the land,فَيَعُودَso it would returnبَحْرًاto a seaكَمَاasكَانَit wasوَلَٰكِنْbut

And Moses wanted to strike the land with his staff, so it would return to a sea as it was, but

أَوْحَىٰrevealedاللَّهُAllahإِلَيْهِ:to him:أَتْرُكِLeaveالْبَحْرَthe seaسَاكِنًا،still,إِنَّهُمْindeed, theyجُنْدٌare soldiersمُّغْرَقُونَ.to be drowned.

Allah revealed to him: Leave the sea still; indeed, they are soldiers to be drowned.

وَلَمَّاAnd whenوَصَلَarrivedفِرْعَوْنُPharaohوَجُنُودُهُand his soldiersإِلَىٰtoعَرْضِthe breadthالْبَحْرِof the sea(وَهُوَ(while it wasبَرٌّ)land)انْطَبَقَit closedعَلَيْهِمْ!upon them!

And when Pharaoh and his soldiers arrived at the breadth of the sea (while it was land), it closed upon them!

وَلَمَّاAnd whenرَأَىٰsawفِرْعَوْنُPharaohالْجِدَّ،the seriousness,زَالَتْvanishedسُكْرَتُهُ!his intoxication!

And when Pharaoh saw the seriousness, his intoxication vanished!

حَتَّىٰUntilإِذَاwhenأَدْرَكَهُovertook himالْغَرَقُthe drowning,قَالَhe said,آمَنْتُI believeأَنَّهُthatلَاnoإِلَٰهَdeityإِلَّاexceptالَّذِيthe Oneآمَنَتْbelieved inبِهِHimبَنُوthe Childrenإِسْرَائِيلَof Israelوَأَنَاand Iمِنَam ofالْمُسْلِمِينَ.the Muslims.

Until when the drowning overtook him, he said, I believe that there is no deity except the One in whom the Children of Israel believed, and I am of the Muslims.

وَلَٰكِنْButهَيْهَاتَ:it is too late:وَلَيْسَتِAnd is notالتَّوْبَةُthe repentanceلِلَّذِينَfor thoseيَعْمَلُونَwho doالسَّيِّئَاتِevil deedsحَتَّىٰuntilإِذَاwhenحَضَرَcomes toأَحَدَهُمُone of themالْمَوْتُdeath,قَالَhe says,إِنِّيindeed, Iتُبْتُhave repented.الْآنَnow.

But it is too late: And repentance is not for those who do evil deeds until when death comes to one of them, he says, Indeed, I have repented now.

وَيَوْمَAnd the Dayيَأْتِيcomesبَعْضُsomeآيَاتِsignsرَبِّكَof your Lord,لَاnotيَنْفَعُwill benefitنَفْسًاa soulإِيمَانُهَاits faithلَمْif it had notتَكُنْbeenآمَنَتْbelievingمِنْfromقَبْلُbeforeأَوْorكَسَبَتْearnedفِيinإِيمَانِهَاits faithخَيْرًا.any good.

And the Day some signs of your Lord come, no soul will benefit from its faith if it had not believed before or earned any good through its faith.
