قَوْلَThe saying ofاللَّهِAllahتَعَالَىThe Exalted::{خَالِدِينَ{Abidingفِيهَاin itمَاas long asدَامَتِthe heavensالسَّمَاوَاتُand the earthوَالْأَرْضُإِلَّاexceptمَاwhatشَاءَYour Lord.رَبُّكَ}(١)
The saying of Allah The Exalted: {Abiding in it as long as the heavens and the earth remain, except what Your Lord wills.} (1)
قَالَHe said:أتَتْThis verse cameهَذِهِupon allالْآيَةُعَلَىeveryكُلِّthreat inوَعِيدٍthe Qur'anفِيالْقُرْآنِ(٢)
He said: This verse came upon all threats in the Qur'an (2).
قَالَإِسْحَاقُ:ثَنَاI was informed byعُبَيْدِUbaidاللَّهِAllahابْنِthe son ofمُعَاذٍMuadh,ثَنَاI was informed byمُعَتَمِرِMu'tamirابْنِson ofسُلَيْمَانَSulaiman,قَالَhe said:قَالَMy father said:ثَنَاI was informed byأَبُوAbuنَضْرَةٍNadra,عَنْaboutجَابِرٍJabir,أوorأَبِيthe father ofسَعِيدٍSaid,أوorبَعْضِsome ofأَصْحَابِthe companions ofالنَّبِيِّthe Prophetصَلَّىpeace beاللَّهُuponعَلَيْهِhimوَسَلَّمَقَالَsaid
Ishaq said: Ubaid Allah son of Muadh reported to me that Mu'tamir son of Sulaiman said: My father said: Abu Nadra said about Jabir, or Abu Sa'id, or some of the companions of the Prophet, peace be upon him, said:
هَذِهِThisالْآيَةُتَأْتِيapplies toعَلَىthe whole Qur'anالْقُرْآنِكُلِّهِ:{إِلَّا{ExceptمَاwhatشَاءَYour Lord.رَبُّكَ:إِنَّIndeedرَبُّكَYour Lordفَعَّالٌis All-Determinerلِمَاfor whatيُرِيدُHe wills.}(٣)
This verse applies to the whole Qur'an: {Except what Your Lord wills. Indeed, Your Lord is All-Determiner for what He wills.} (3)
قَالَHe said:الْمُعْتَمِرُMu'tamir:قَالَMy father said:عَنَىit meansكُلَّeveryوَعِيدٍthreat inفِيالْقُرْآنِ(٤)
Mu’tamir said: My father said: it means every threat in the Qur'an (4).
رَوَاهُIt was narrated byأَبُوAbuجَعْفَرٍJa'farابْنِthe son ofجَرِيرٍJarir al-Tabari inالطَّبَرِيِّhis Tafsir.فِيHe said:تَثَنَّىI was informed byالْحَسَنِAl-Hasan son of Yahiya,يَحْيَىأَنَاI amعَبْدَAbdالرَّزَّاقِAl-Razzaq,أَنَاI amابْنَthe son ofالتِّيْمِيِّAl-Temimi,عَنْfromأَبِيهِhis fatherأَبِيAbuنَضْرَةٍNadra,عَنْaboutجَابِرٍJabir,أوorأَبِيthe father ofسَعِيدٍSa'id,أوorعَنْfromرَجُلٍa man ofمِنْأَصْحَابِthe companions ofالنَّبِيِّthe Prophetصَلَّىpeace beاللَّهُuponعَلَيْهِhimوَسَلَّمَفِيconcerningقَوْلِهِthe saying ofسُبْحَانَهُHe, exalted is He:{إِلَّا{ExceptمَاwhatشَاءَYour Lord.رَبُّكَإِنَّIndeedرَبُّكَYour Lordفَعَّالٌis All-Determinerلِمَاfor whatيُرِيدُHe wills.}(٦)
It was narrated by Abu Ja'far al-Tabari in his Tafsir: He said: I was informed by Al-Hasan son of Yahiya, that I was informed by Al-Razzaq, that I am the son of Al-Temimi, from his father Abu Nadra, about Jabir, or Abu Sa'id, or from a man from the companions of the Prophet, peace be upon him, concerning His saying: {Except what Your Lord wills. Indeed, Your Lord is All-Determiner for what He wills.} (6)
قَالَHe said:هَذِهِThisالْآيَةُتَأْتِيappliesعَلَىto the whole Qur'anالْقُرْآنِthe Qur'anكُلِّهِ,فَيَقُولُand says:حَيْثُwhereverكَانَit is foundفِيالْقُرْآنِ{خَالِدِينَ{Abidingفِيهَاin it}تَأْتِيappliesعَلَيْهِ(٧)
He said: This verse applies to the whole Qur'an, and he says: wherever it is found in the Qur'an: {Abiding in it} applies to it (7).
وَقَالَAnd Ibn Jarir said:ابْنُthe son ofجَرِيرٍJarir,حَدَّثَتْreported fromعَنْthe one who mentioned itابْنِthe son ofالْمُسَيْبِAl-Musayyib,عَنْfromمَنْwhoeverذَكَرَهُmentioned itعَنْfromابْنِthe son ofعَبَّاسٍAbbasقَالَHe said:{خَالِدِينَ{Abidingفِيهَاin itمَاas long asدَامَتِthe heavensالسَّمَاوَاتُand the earthوَالْأَرْضُإِلَّاexceptمَاwhatشَاءَYour Lord.رَبُّكَ}(٨)
And Ibn Jarir said mentioned from Al-Musayyib, from whoever mentioned it from Ibn Abbas: {Abiding in it as long as the heavens and the earth remain, except what Your Lord wills.} (8)
قَالَHe said:اسْتَثْنَىAllah excludes,اللَّهُAllahعَزَّthe The Mightyوَجَلَّand Exaltedقَالَ: يَأْمُرُordersالنَّارَthe Fireأَنْtoتَأْكُلَهُمْconsume them.(٩)
Allah excludes, the Mighty and Exalted, by saying: He orders the Fire to consume them. (9)
